When was CONSAL formed and why? |
CONSAL was founded in 1970 (Singapore), in response to a growing sense of regional or Southeast Asian identity, fostered particularly by the formation of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). |

What is CONSAL's mission? |
CONSAL's mission is to promote library and information development in the region and to lead the region towards greater participation in the international information community.

What are CONSAL's objectives? |
To establish and strength relations among librarians, libraries, library schools, library associations and related organizations in the region.
To promote cooperation in the fields of librarianship, library and information sciences documentations, information and related activities in the region.
To cooperate with other regional and international organizations and institutions in the fields of librarianship, library and information sciences, documentation, information and related activities.

Who can be a member of CONSAL? |
Membership shall be opened only to institutions and individuals within the member countries in Southeast Asia. |

When and where will the next CONSAL conference be? |
CONSAL XIV General Conference will be held in the year 2009 in Vietnam.

What are the achievements of CONSAL? |
CONSAL has managed to hold international conference every two to three years. It has also been providing forum for professional contact and exchange as well as promoting the continuing education of librarians in the region.

Who are the people involved in CONSAL and what are their roles? |
A CONSAL Executive Board will be formed by the host country to implement the resolutions adopted at the previous General Conference of CONSAL, undertake other activities in conformity with the objectives of CONSAL, delegate to the next host country the organization of the General Conference, etc. |
